8 Months Old
8 months old today! Everyone tells me that the first year is the hardest with twins. We're three quarters of the way done. I hope it gets easier! :) Ethan and Mia are sleeping through the night. Getting sleep makes a world of difference! They are eating a lot of table foods now. Ethan is more picky than Mia. Mia LOVES table food and will eat anything. The only thing that she hasn't liked is stuffing. She opens her mouth really wide when it's time to eat. Ethan tends to make all the funny faces when we try new foods. If he doesn't like it, he keeps his mouth closed and we can't get anything in! Both babies love apple juice in their sippy cups!
It's been a tough week for Ethan (and for us!) He's been teething and is miserable. Orajel has been our friend. He is chewing on anything he can get his hands on. We were outside a couple of days ago and he was pretty restless. For some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to give him a stick that was lying nearby. It immediately went into his mouth. When I took it away, he threw a huge fit. He arched his back, scrunched his face up, and screamed. I gave it back to him and he stopped instantly. Isn't he too young to learn this? :) After awhile, I didn't care that he was chewing on a stick. It kept him quiet and gave me a few minutes of peace! He has been sitting up for the last few weeks. I thought that once he could sit up, he would sit quietly on the floor and play with his toys. Haha. He still wants me to sit next to him and play with him. He is a pretty happy boy and still smiles and laughs constantly. He still wants to be carried around everywhere and gets pretty heavy. Ethan grabs at everything. Mike carried him into the laundry room and Ethan grabbed a full bottle of Tide detergent and knocked it on Mike's toe! Ouch!Mia is also teething but seems to be taking it better than Ethan. Everything goes into her mouth. She sucks on the dogs when they're lying next to her and then makes an awful face!
Mia loves watching the dogs and cat. She grabbed a handful of kitty the other day. She was hissed at and Rusty hit her a couple of times with her paw. (She's declawed!) It sounds like they're going to be the best of friends! Mia is not quite ready to sit up yet. She tends to arch her back and stiffen her legs when I'm trying to get her to sit up. She might be my stubborn one. She is still smiling all the time but doesn't laugh all that often. She is content playing on the floor by herself and loves sitting in her bumbo chair. She is my easy baby! She's very happy and the only time she throws a fit is when she's tired and wants to go to bed.

First Trip to the Pool
We took Ethan and Mia to the pool for the first time in August. It didn't start out the greatest for Ethan. I brought along spray sunscreen and had never used it before. I had no idea that it is ice cold when you put it on! Aunt Amber held Ethan up and I sprayed it all over his chest. He gasped and then screamed at the top of his lungs. The other people in the women's locker area were laughing and I couldn't help myself either! He acted like I had just killed him. Mia didn't seem to mind the sunscreen. She gasped a little bit but didn't cry at all. Ethan was so upset that he screamed very loudly for the next 15 minutes. He was kind of scared of the pool and fussed when we put him in. Mia, on the otherhand, loved every second of it! She was smiling and kicking almost the entire time. Finally, Ethan enjoyed the last 15 minutes while we were at the pool. We eventually got a few smiles out of him.

7 Months Old
Ethan and Mia are getting so big! Ethan smiles and laughs constantly. There isn't a day that goes by that he doesn't laugh. Mia, on the other hand, smiles constantly but hardly ever laughs. They passed their well-baby check with flying colors. Developmentally, they are where they should be. The only area where they may lag is the development of their large muscle groups, so they may not crawl or walk as soon as some babies. The doctor was pleased with how vocal both babies are. Ethan is rolling over like crazy. Everytime I put him on the floor and leave the room, he is on his stomach when I return. He moves himself around the room this way. He will be sitting up by himself soon. He can do it for a few seconds and then starts to tip over. The doctor was impressed with how strong he is. Mia doesn't roll over quite as much as Ethan, which is funny because she was the first to roll over. When she's on her back, she moves all over the place. She kicks her legs and rotates herself in all sorts of directions. Mia can also sit up for a little while but tips over within a few seconds. She is drooling like crazy and will probably be getting a tooth soon. Believe it or not, they are still sharing a crib. I have been waiting to buy another one until we were settled into our new house. (It now has been ordered!) We put a stuffed snake in between them because Mia had been kicking Ethan almost nightly. She has found her way above the snake a few times and has gotten Ethan, and now, she found her way straight through the middle of the snake. I'm not quite sure how she did it, but we heard them cooing one morning and when we went to check on them, she was perpendicular to Ethan with the snake on top of her. I put a picture of it on Mia's website. Hopefully, it'll brighten your day!
