Day Two of Potty Training
Today isn't going much better. She hasn't peed in the potty once, and we've been in there plenty! Mia is starting to scream when I try to set her on it. I'm thinking she's not quite ready. I don't want to traumatize her with the whole process. We'll see how tomorrow goes and if it's the same, I'm thinking we'll hold off for awhile.

The Potty Training Begins
5:30 pm --Diaper off. Underwear on. She wouldn't pee on the potty.
5:45 pm --Tried the potty again. She wouldn't pee.
6:00 pm --She peed her pants. New underwear and pants put on.
7:00 pm --Sat on the potty. She wouldn't pee.
8:00 pm -- While on our way to the potty, we noticed she had all ready peed. New underwear put on. We sat her on the potty anyhow, and she wouldn't pee.
8:45 pm -- She peed all over her bedroom floor. Diaper and jammies put on. Mike took the steam cleaner out and cleaned the carpet. He said we're just going to leave it out the entire weekend.
So,... how'd we do? :) This is going to be a very long weekend!

All About the Poop
The last few days have been rather interesting. Yesterday, I broke my record of changing poopy diapers. My old record was 9 in one day. Now, it's 11 plus an Ethan turd on the floor. Mike even changed one yesterday, so it would have been 12.
The other day, Mia took her diaper off when she was supposed to be napping. I did a quick scan of the room and didn't see any poop or wet spots. I thought I was in the clear until Riley found a poop chunk under the bed. I caught her out of the corner of my eye putting something brown towards her mouth. Thank God I caught her just in time. And then she wouldn't let go of it. Mike had to pry her fingers open to get it out.
I'm hoping to do some major potty training this weekend! I'm SO sick of the poopy diapers and changing that dang diaper genie.

Happy Birthday, Baby girl!
Riley is now cruising on the furniture. I'm guessing she'll be walking before we know it. Our house is all ready baby-proofed, so it won't be much of an adjustment for us. Ethan and Mia might not like it so much. Riley LOVES to crawl after them. They tolerate it for awhile and then get sick of it. They'll do things like shut the door right before she gets in their room or take things away from her just as she's grabbing for it. The three of them fight like cats and dogs! It'll be fun to see what Ethan and Mia do when she can actually keep up with them.
She still says "mama", "dada", "baba", and "hi" quite a bit. I swear she says "hot", too. When I give the twins their food, I always tell them, "be careful, it might be hot." When I set food in front of Riley, she always says, "hahhhhh." I think she's trying to say hot.
Riley loves to eat anything and everything. She's not too picky. We transitioned her to whole milk a couple of weeks ago. She did really well with the switch. It feels good to not have to buy formula anymore. The stuff is expensive! Though, we go through a gallon of whole milk in about two days! Our next goal is to wean Riley from the bottle and nursing. Wish us luck!
She still is inconsistent with sleeping through the night. She'll go a few days of sleeping well and then will wake up for the next couple of nights. The twins didn't start sleeping through the night consistently until they were over a year old. I guess she's following in their foot steps! She takes one nap in the afternoon and usually sleeps a good hour. I wish I had children that liked to sleep!
She has a total of four teeth with a couple on the way. She realizes that she can now bite. She bit me really hard the other day, and I got after her. She looked at me, and in slow motion, her smile turned into the biggest frown I had ever seen and then the tears came. I was laughing so hard. She's very dramatic and gets her feelings hurt easily.
Riley is still a huge mama's girl. She is never too far from me and always has to know where I am. When I worked last weekend, Riley crawled to our bedroom door, started banging on the door, and crying. She somehow knew I was in there. She does pretty well with her dad when I'm working. In fact, I'd say she's better for him than me! How fair is that?!?
She's starting to accumulate nicknames. Here are some of them:
-Mia calls her "Ri Ri"
-Mike calls her "Bucky" (because of her two front teeth)
-I call her "Rilers"
-Ethan calls her "Ri-ee"
-Aunt Amber calls her "Porkchop"

Funny Stories
I had to work this past weekend, so Mike had some cute stories for me when I got home.
Mike was changing Riley's diaper when our stupid dog, Elsa, pooped in the living room. Ethan picked up the dog turd, brought it to Mike, said "uh oh", and chucked it at Mike. Gross!
Mia has been talking a lot lately. She is starting to say complete sentences now. Her first sentence was, "I love you." Would you like to know what her second sentence was? She took Mike's beer off the end table and said, "Here's your beer" as she handed it to him. I'm SO glad our two year olds know what beer is!

Back Home
Mike had to go to Phoenix for a week, so the kids and I headed to Watertown to stay with my parents. It was the worst week of sleep I've ever gotten! Every time we go somewhere, I realize how sensitive our kids are to change. Ethan and Riley woke up multiple times a night. I felt like they were newborns again. Mia slept pretty well, so I have no complaints there!
I think Ethan had a nightmare one of the nights and he was awake from 1:30am to 5am when he fell asleep on the couch. The second night, he threw a huge fit about an hour after he went to bed. I think it had something to do with his blanket. He was up on and off until 2 am when he climbed out of his pack-and-play and climbed on the couch and fell asleep. He apparently likes sleeping on the couch now. Both Ethan and Mia woke up super early too.
Riley wasn't any better. She woke up several times each night and it took a good hour or longer to get her back to sleep. Every time I'd lie her down, she'd wake up. Needless to say, I was very crabby as the week progressed.
Mia is really attached to my mom and followed her around the entire week. When Mia would do something naughty, my mom didn't want to be the bad guy, so she had me do it every time. Mia caught on to this and would go crying to Grandma every time I had to get after her. What a stinker! Usually, Mike is the mean one, so I can kind of see how he feels now!
My dad took the kids swimming. Mia was scared of the pool (not too surprised about that.) Ethan, for some reason, was kind of scared too. He's the little dare devil, so it really surprised me. Ethan did have fun playing in the urinal, though. I guess he grabbed the deodorizer block on the bottom of it and was playing with it. How gross!
I hope the kids sleep well tonight. Mike gets kid duty tonight. I'm taking benadryl and putting ear plugs in. Sweet dreams!
